You'll even get to learn a little Cornish dialect and Cornish comedy from Jed and Prudie, there's Demelza's strength and grit and Poldark's determination to support his workers and his family. We even put up a booktrail of all the locations on our site - the booktrail - and read the book on location, it's that good. And it's a great thing for such a classic and well loved series of books to find a new audience. It allows Cornwall to enchant us all, many many years after this book was written. The novel reads like an homage to the author’s beloved Cornwall where Cornwall is centre stage from the sea mist to the views from the cliffs. And don't be put off by the number of books in the series - each one is so well developed and the action really evocative of the life and times back in Cornwall that it is a real treat to spend time with. The book obviously shows and explores a lot more in depth but this is such a multilayered and epic story that you won't be sorry you read it. If you haven't read the books or seen the TV show (which caused such a commotion over here - women were drooling in their droves and Cornwall tourism has gone through the roof! - then it's well worth a look at both. The TV show has finished over here in England and think the show has reached American shores? It's a fab adaptation of an already popular and classic story with all book cover redesigned with the TV characters.
